Due to the character of wood, sometimes small knots or natural imperfections are present. I always pick out the best-looking pieces of wood, but also feel that slight imperfections help add to the character of my handmade signs.

Process:
-thick boards are cut down, planed and sanded
-base coats of paint is applied, dried, then design is painted
-several clear coats are applied for protection
-rustic design can show wood imperfections: knots, grain, checks, etc.
